Elk River Inn & Cabins is open for lodging on a limited basis and outfitting services are open and operating within the Covid 19 guidelines. We will do everything in our power to keep our guests and staff socially distanced so that our guests feel safe, comfortable and at ease. The number of visiting guests will be kept at a safe number. A recent upgrade to a fiber connection allows us to communicate with guests without physical contact.
For the winter season we are serving a plated breakfast in the dining room when possible or a 'grab & go' breakfast.
West Virginia can be a rather quiet destination normally but more recently it has a even more remote feeling, and it feels nice in our current situation. We hope to be back to our normal level of operations in the future as things open and the safety levels are held.
We ask that our guests help us to maintain COVID safety measures. Please bring a face covering with you to use when appropriate.

The Elk River Inn & Cabins has been hosting guests for 40 years. The property consists of 8 guest rooms, 4 cabins, sitting rooms, TV lounge and outfitter's shop. With adjoining decks and beautiful views, Elk River is the perfect location in Snowshoe WV for an outdoor vacation. Our summer temperatures are 5-10 degrees lower than surrounding metro areas, so expect cool nights for sleeping. Air conditioning is available in some rooms. Whether you're a hiker, biker, skier, snowboarder, angler or just a lover of nature, come and enjoy our outdoor playground!
We allow pets in The Farmhouse, Tacy's cabin and Mary's Birdhouse, with some exceptions. We require pets to be crated when owner is not present and to be on leash at all times outside the cabin. We require a $200 pet deposit, of which all except $20 per pet/day is refundable after inspection of property.
Please let us know in advance if you are bringing a pet(s). 2 maximum allowed.
We have a 2 week cancellation policy. If you should cancel 14 or more days prior to your date of arrival, your deposit will be refunded minus a $25 administrative fee, per cabin/room. If cancellation is made after that period, your deposit will be forfeited unless we can fill your room(s) or cabin. If we are able to fill your room(s) or cabin, we will refund your money minus a $25 administrative fee.
